Safety Excellence Award

ARHCA Members Leading the Way in Safety

Congratulations to Paradox Access Solutions on receiving the Alberta Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association (ARHCA) Safety Award.

Established in 2004, Paradox Access Solutions is an Alberta-based, indigenous-owned company, specializing in the design and construction of innovative access solutions, including industrial access mats and engineered ground reinforcement, for the oil & gas, pipeline, utility, civil services, and general construction industries.

Five member companies were recognized for safety at this year’s ARHCA Convention held at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel on November 17, where awards are bestowed annually for Honorary Lifetime Membership, Environmental Innovation, and Safety.

The ARHCA safety awards are separated into 5 categories. The winner in each category is the largest employer, as measured by person-hours worked, with no lost-time claims. Paradox Access Solutions received the accolade in the 100,000 to 200,000 hour category. The team and Derek Breault, Director of Operations, accepted the award on behalf of Paradox at the award ceremony. We noted that many in attendance came forward to express their congratulations, unaware that Paradox was engaged in enterprise on such a scale and impressed at such an exceptional achievement for a company of its size.

Headquartered in Edmonton, the ARHCA is the largest heavy construction association in Canada, representing contractors engaged in the construction and rehabilitation of highways, municipal roads, bridges, sewers, and water projects, as well as the suppliers and consulting engineers who work with them. From its inception in 1956, ARHCA has welcomed both contractor and associate (supply and service sectors) members. Today, the ARHCA serves as a lobby organization for its membership to help maintain and further develop a fair, equitable, and prosperous heavy construction industry in Alberta.

ARHCA congratulated all winners of the 2016 ARHCA Safety Awards and each of the 314-member companies that operated with no lost-time or modified work claims during 2016. These safety-focused companies racked up a total of 5,721 person-years of claim-free operations – more than 11.4 million working hours.
